With most in-person events now cancelled or postponed, organizations looking to continue their operations are going online.

Stoney Creek Toastmasters, for example, offered a free online Presentation Skills seminar on March 28.

Ryan Kaupert, Toastmasters Area L54 director said the group was eager to move forward with the virtual event.

“Our members are very committed to continuing on the event,” Kaupert said in an email. “There is no reason why we shouldn't have the event when we can still offer it online.”

During the coronavirus pandemic, the group is continuing to hold its Thursday evening meetings using the video conferencing program Zoom to help members sharpen their presentation skills while continuing to abide by social distancing protocols. See stoneycreektoastmasters.com for more details.

The local chapter of Overeaters Anonymous is following a similar system. The group is hosting Zoom meetings every Thursday from 1:30 to 3 p.m. The Zoom ID No. is 516 395 056. All are welcome, with no dues, fees or weigh-ins. Call Joanne at 905-467-7476 for more details.

Meanwhile, the Stoney Creek Chamber of Commerce has postponed its annual Community Awards and 70th anniversary gala until Sept. 17.

The chamber office will be staffed during regular office hours of 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. each weekday morning. But the door will be locked.

Anyone seeking the chamber’s assistance is asked to call 905-664-4000 or email admin@chamberstoneycreek.com.
