Lacey Bakker’s latest book is a big change of pace.

It's her first adult fiction book, a thriller titled Obsessed with Her.

You can be sure it’s not a followup to Panda the Very Bad Cat, her first literary release.

“It’s very much an adult book,” says Bakker, whose other book is also a children’s title.

So much so, she’s writing it under a pen name — L.L. Collings — to keep it separate from her children’s titles.

Obsessed with Her is a psychological thriller about a widower waiting for his daughter to pick him up from the airport. She never arrives.

“I want parents to think, ‘How far will I go if I was in this situation?’ What are you willing to do if something happened to your child?“

It doesn’t come from personal experience. But Bakker wanted to push the envelope and challenge readers to think about the line between good and evil.

“What sends someone over the edge? Because it’s in all of us to have that trigger point where we go off the deep end, so to speak,” says the east Mountain resident. “What separates us from those people who are doing time? I’ve always wonder that. Human behaviour has always fascinated me.”

Bakker started her business, Pandamonium Publishing House, in 2015. A year later she released Panda the Very Bad Cat, her first of two children’s books.

Her stable of authors cover everything from children’s books to adult fiction. She’s also working with an author on a graphic novel, set for a 2019 release.

Obsessed with Her is coming out Christmas Day.
