Over 120 parishioners of Bethel Gospel Tabernacle have spent many evenings preparing for the church’s Easter performance.

The Promise, an Easter musical about the life of Christ, started its run last Saturday. The final three shows are 6 p.m. nightly from Good Friday through Easter Sunday.

“It brings the gospel, the first four books of the New Testament, to life,” says music pastor and producer Stephen Hitchcock.

The roughly 80 actors involved in the production have been rehearsing since the beginning of the year, says Hitchcock.

This will be the first play staged since the church installed a new sound system and stage lighting.

Admission is free, but there will be a freewill offering and non-perishable food items will be accepted. Bethel Gospel Tabernacle is located at 1355 Upper Wellington St. For more information, see bgthamilton.com.
