VON Hamilton opens new program for francophone seniors

VON Hamilton has launched the first adult day program in Hamilton to offer service to francophone seniors. Located in the building owned by the Sons of Italy, 499 King St. East, Unit 7, the program is a collaboration between VON and a number of local organizations including the Centre de Santé Communautaire Hamilton/Niagara, March of Dimes Canada and the Sons of Italy.

The program is operating Monday to Saturday, 9 a.m.-4 p.m., with two full days of service in French. Seniors will enjoy recreational activities in a comfortable, supervised environment. Snacks and a hot lunch are included with accessible bathing facilities on site for clients who would like to take advantage of support with personal care.

The program will focus on supports for the frail elderly and adults with disabilities who are socially isolated or need extra support due to a medical condition. Additionally, the program provides caregivers with a break from care giving responsibilities knowing that their loved one is cared for in a safe environment.
