The Dundas Bantam AE Blues, sponsored by Nordic Gold Salmon Products, opened the first round of the OMHA playdowns by dropping a thrilling 4-3 final to the Hespeler Shamrocks.

The visitors led 3-0 midway through the opening frame, and carried the same margin into the second period.

The Blues turned up their intensity and were rewarded, as Tommy Stevens chipped a puck back to Nathan Zontanos at the point.  The defenceman wired a hard shot along the ice, and Drew Kloschinsky picked up the rebound.  Less than a minute later, Matt Czum emerged from a scramble in front of the visitor's net, and brought the home side to within a goal.

Both teams had chances in the final frame, and after a rough start, Noah Doan was outstanding in the net. After the Shamrocks restored a two-goal margin, Liam Horning cut the deficit to a single goal once again, assisted by Czum and Ethan Riggs.
