Do girls need to sing ‘In all thy sons command?’

Re: O Canada! (April 16)

Your coverage of Beasley students being part of the national recording to celebrate the flag in song was read with interest. Who wouldn’t be impressed by those beautiful little girls raising their voices in song?

However, I couldn’t help but wonder if they felt included in the lyrics “In all thy sons command?”

I don’t, but if celebrities like Margaret Atwood, Senator Nancy Ruth, Alice Munroe et al were not able to have the powers that be change this line in our national anthem, who am I to object?

Guess I’ll just have to keeping on singing “In all of us command.” Maybe others will take notice and join me.
