UPDATE: Hamilton police have determined that this coronavirus-related shutdown was a hoax perpetrated by an employee with a fake sick note. Charges have been laid and woman will appear in court on May 18. There was no coronavirus threat at this McDonald's.

McDonald's has closed its restaurant at 20 Rymal Rd. E. and Upper James (Ryckmans Corners) after an employee tested positive for coronavirus.

According to a press release, the staffer worked at the restaurant on March 15 from noon to 8 p.m.

The location will remained closed until it has been given permission to reopen by Ontario Public Health. In the meantime the company says that the restaurant is being thoroughly cleaned and sanitized.

All crew members who may have been in close contact with the employee have been asked by the company to self-quarantine until further information is available. Anyone who visited the restaurant during those dates and times should also take suitable precautions.
