Ancaster is Hamilton’s least affordable neighbourhood to buy a home, according to a study by Zoocasa released on Jan. 18.

Using average home prices sourced from the Realtors Association of Hamilton-Burlington and the Ratehub mortgage calculator, the study found a buyer earning a median income of $86,148 would fall $18,823 short of qualifying for a mortgage on an average Ancaster residence priced at $768,692.

Glanbrook is Hamilton’s most affordable neighbourhood, according to Zoocasa. The study found the average Binbrook and Mount Hope home priced at $493,825 is affordable for families earning the median household income of $67,846, leaving an income surplus of $31,512.
