Former Columbia College teacher faces another child sex assault charge

Another complainant has come forward after police publicized the arrest of Columbia College teacher Geoffrey William Burnet in September for child sexual offences.

Burnet now faces a charge of sexual exploitation.

In September, police charged Burnet, 48 with sexual assault, sexual interference and invitation to sexual touching.

Burnet was a teacher at Columbia until his arrest in September.

The charges related to allegations of child sexual assault between January 2007 and December 2008 in Hamilton.

Before teaching at Hamilton's Columbia International College, a private boarding school, Burnet worked in the Hamilton-Wentworth Catholic District School Board, the Upper Grand District School Board in Guelph and the Toronto District School Board.

Burnet, of Kitchener, worked as an occasional teacher at a number of schools when he was with the Hamilton-Catholic board from February 2005 until his resignation in January 2011.
