Traffic using the Burlington Canal Lift Bridge will be affected during work lasting until Aug. 31. This week, the bridge will be closed to vehicular traffic from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m.

Starting Monday and lasting through the end of August, the two outside lanes of the bridge will be closed, but two-way traffic will be maintained. Pedestrians and cyclists will continue to have access to the bridge.

Key components of the bridge’s lift system are being replaced to extend its serviceable life, says Public Works and Government Services Canada. Short-term closures of the bridge or of individual lanes will continue to occur periodically during the project.
