Donald Trump deserted by more business partners

That ‘Your Fired!” kiss-off that Donald Trump took such glee in levelling on The Apprentice is coming back at him tenfold.

Last month at his presidential campaign announcement, the business mogul vowed to build a wall to keep Mexican criminals and “rapists” out of the U.S.

Trump remains unapologetic about his hurtful words, and a CNN poll this week has Trump at 12 per cent among Republican voters nationally; second only to former Florida Governor Jeb Bush who is at 19 per cent.

But some of his business partners can’t distance themselves fast enough, with Serta on Wednesday being the latest to move to dump Trump:

Univision Communications Inc.

The Spanish-language network was among the first to cut ties with The Donald, refusing to air the Miss USA pageant he co-owns. And several pageant judges and performers, including Emmitt Smith and Flo Rida dropped out of the show, which is to be held in Baton Rouge July 12. Trump has filed a $500-million lawsuit against Univision. The pageant will now be broadcast on Reelz channel.

NBCUniversal

Citing “respect and dignity for all people” as fundamental company values, the network said it would no longer air the Miss USA and Miss Universe Pageants. The broadcaster said Trump had previously indicated he would not be participating in the network’s future episodes of the The Apprentice. In comments to US Weekly, Trump said “NBC is weak, and like everybody else is trying to be politically correct.”

Macy’s

The retailer ended its 11-year collaboration with this release: “In light of statements made by Donald Trump, which are inconsistent with Macy's values, we have decided to discontinue our business relationship with Mr. Trump and will phase-out the Trump menswear collection.” In turn, Trump tweeted his disdain for the department store: “For all of those who want to #MakeAmericaGreatAgain, boycott @Macys. They are weak on border security & stopping illegal immigration.”

Serta

Responding to Twitter enquiries asking if Serta would #DumpTrump, the mattress maker company said it would not renew its licensing agreement with the Trump Organization at the end of the year. “Serta values diversity and does not agree with nor endorse the recent statements made by Mr. Trump,” Serta subsequently told Bloomberg in a statement. The company sells Trump Home iSeries branded mattresses that are priced between $1,299 to $2,999.

The City of New York

Even in his hometown, where the Trump Organization manages two skating rinks and a carousel in Central Park, and recently opened a $260-million golf course, the luxury landowner is under fire. “We are reviewing Trump contracts with the city,” said Mayor Bill de Blasio in a statement. “Donald Trump's remarks were disgusting and offensive, and this hateful language has no place in our city.”

Ricky Martin

The singer denounced Trump's comments on Twitter as “full of hate and ignorance” and cancelled the annual Ricky Martin Foundation charity golf event at the Trump International Golf Club Rio Grande, Puerto Rico. “This decision corresponds to the commitment of solidarity from our founding president to human rights and the Latino community,” a spokesperson for Martin’s charity said in a press release. Meanwhile, the LPGA, PGA of America, PGA Tour and USGA issued a joint statement which said “Mr. Trump's comments are inconsistent with our strong commitment to an inclusive and welcoming environment in the game of golf,” but declined to take any action against Trump or his branded courses.
