City of Hamilton warns of unscrupulous solicitations

The City of Hamilton is warning residents and business operators to exercise caution when receiving solicitations – by means of flyers or other advertising – that claim affiliation with the city’s programs.

The city has been receiving numerous calls about flyers being distributed to residents containing information about city programs such as the backwater valve replacement program and the lead water pipe replacement program, said a public works spokeswoman.

Any notices from the city always include the City of Hamilton logo and will also always include a city employee’s contact information, she said.

If these are not contained in the flyer or other advertising, the city is not involved in the solicitation.

Anyone with a concern, or who wants information about the city’s programs, can call 905-546-CITY (2489).
