Hamilton compost giveaway starts Saturday

Starting Saturday, Hamilton’s public works department is hosting compost giveaway events at various locations across the city.

The nutrient-rich compost is processed from yard waste picked up curbside throughout the year.

Bring your own buckets, shovel and elbow grease. The giveaways, for personal use only, run on Saturdays from 8 a.m.-noon, while quantities last.

Dates and locations:

• May 2 Ancaster public works yard, 501 Shaver Rd., Ancaster

• Joe Sams Leisure Park, 752 Centre Rd., Waterdown (woodchips also available).

• May 9 Rymal Road yard, 308 Rymal Rd. East (woodchips also available).

• May 9 Rennie/Brampton yard, 2200 Brampton St.

• May 16 Dundas yard, 189 King St. East, Dundas

• May 16 Jones Road yard - 349 Jones Rd., Stoney Creek (woodchips also available).

Residents are encouraged to bring a monetary donation in support of the United Way of Burlington and Greater Hamilton.
