Hamilton Armenian community marks 100th anniversary of genocide

The Hamilton Armenian community will be commemorating the centennial of the Armenian Genocide of 1915 with a special requiem service Sunday at 11 a.m.

The service will take place at St. Mary Armenian Church, 8 Mayhurst St,. and will be followed at 2 p.m. by the official ceremony at the Armenian Community Centre located at 191 Barton St., Stoney Creek.

More than one million Armenians were killed during and after the First World War by the Ottoman government in what is now Turkey.
