The Erland Lee Museum is looking for volunteers.
The Stoney Creek historic site and birthplace of the Ontario women’s institute movement is hosting a volunteer orientation session on Saturday, March 28 from 1-4 p.m.
Barb Stones, Erland Lee Museum committee member, hopes more people will discover upper Stoney Creek’s hidden historic treasure by volunteering their time and efforts.
“We definitely need to make the community more aware of (the museum’s) existence and the activities taking place on site,” she said.
The museum currently offers a range of craft workshops, community outreach events and guided tours of the Erland Lee (Museum) Home, known for its status as the birthplace of Canadian Women’s Institutes.
The museum is located at 552 Ridge Rd.
Formed on Feb. 19, 1897, the Women’s Institute is dedicated to personal growth and community action. The FWIO recently moved its provincial office to the Erland Lee Museum.
The FWIO has approximately 3,500 members and 290 Branches across Ontario. Call 905-662-2691 or email erlandleehome@fwio.on.ca for more details.
