January play to help Hamilton churches

A dramatic musical comedy written by two retired high school teachers from Hamilton will raise money for three charities in January. Classical Theatre Company is producing the play, Padre Pio, an original work by Peter Tassi and John Cope. The play traces the life of this great Italian saint, from his years in San Giovanni Rotondo to his death.

Performance dates include Our Lady of Lourdes, 416 Mohawk Rd. East (Jan. 29-31), and Immaculate Heart of Mary, 934 Hwy. 8, Stoney Creek (Feb. 5, 6 and 7). It is also being performed at St. Matthews Church in Oakville (Jan. 22, 23 and 24). All shows are at 8 p.m. Tickets are $15; 25 per cent of proceeds to go to the charity of the church’s choice.
