Man shot during attempted robbery on Mountain

Hamilton police are searching for two suspects after a man was shot during an attempted robbery on the Mountain on Dec. 1.

Spokesperson Debbie McGreal-Dinning said the victim cashed a cheque at the Money Mart on Upper James Street and Mohawk Road East at about 8 p.m. and was then approached outside by two men.

The victim drove the men to the area of Lorenzo Drive and Jeremy Street. One of the men produced a gun and demanded the victim’s money. The man was shot and the two men fled on foot.

The 35-year-old victim suffered non-life-threatening injuries.

The two men were last seen running south on Jeremy.

The first suspect is described as a Middle Eastern man, between 24 and 25 years old, six foot two and weighing about 185 pounds, with a square face and trimmed beard. He was sporting a baseball hat and a blue or black suit jacket.

The second suspect is described as a Middle Eastern man, 22 years old, five foot four, with a beard. He was wearing a red, grey and black hoodie.
