City of Hamilton traffic specialists are adjusting traffic signal timings and establishing detour routes to help commuters navigate around the Burlington Skyway bridge closure this weekend.

The provincial transportation ministry has indicated the bridge will remain closed at least until Monday, Aug. 4.

In the meantime, the following detour routes have been provided by the city:

Eastport Drive

Red Hill Valley Parkway – Linc – Highway 403

Burlington Street – Wellington Street – Cannon Street – Highway 403

Fruitland Road – Highway 8 – Highway 403

The Ministry of Transportation will be implementing a detour plan for the 403 to assist and provide alternative routes to alleviate congestion, using highways 52, 5 and 6. Signal timings have also been adjusted along these corridors, as well as other bypass routes, to help alleviate congestion as best as possible.

The city has rescheduled non-emergency road maintenance work on the detour routes, but all major road construction must go ahead as planned due to committed contracts and timing.
