Avalanche Atom Red haul home silver from Cambridge

News Jan 14, 2014 Ancaster News

Entering into their first tournament of the year, expectations for the Avalanche Red were minimal, with the focus being on a fun weekend and some team bonding.

What transpired was an exciting event that saw a group of girls gel as a team and exceed all expectations.

The team went undefeated in round-robin play with three wins against Cambridge, Walkerton and Burlington and a tie against Stoney Creek.

The gold medal game against Barrie was a hard-fought match from the opening puck drop until the final buzzer. Although the score was 6-2 for Barrie, the action on the ice was fairly even.

It was a fantastic tournament, where the entire team played well and coming together as a team was the major achievement.
