Ancaster home razed in overnight fire

Hamilton fire officials and the Ontario fire marshal are still sifting through the evidence following a devastating house fire in rural Ancaster Wednesday evening.

Hamilton firefighters responded to a fully involved fire at 305 Hwy. 52  S. at 9:35 p.m. Crews immediately launched a defensive attack against the blaze.

The lone occupant of the home was not present at the time of the fire.

Damage to the home is estimated at $500,000. There were no injuries reported. The cause of the fire remains undetermined.

In a news release, Hamilton police said the fire has not been deemed suspicious.
