Police seek suspect in sex assault near McMaster University

Hamilton police are on the lookout for a male who sexually assaulted a woman in her twenties near McMaster University early Saturday morning.

Sgt. Terri-Lynn Collings said the woman was walking in the area of Dalewood and Traymore avenues at about 3 a.m. when she was grabbed from behind, pushed to the ground and sexually assaulted.

The suspect grabbed her phone to prevent her from calling police and ran off on Traymore toward Dalewood. Police recovered the phone nearby. The victim was unharmed.

The suspect is described as being five feet five inches tall with a medium build. He was wearing a dark-coloured hoodie and dark track pants.
