Ministry of Labour officials are continuing to investigate a June 21 industrial accident on Sandhill Drive in the Ancaster Business Park.

Police and provincial labour officials were called to the Dempster’s Bread facility at 1385 Sandhill Dr. where a re-roofing project was underway.

A contract roofing company was in the process of raising a garbage chute to the roof using the roof hoist, when the hoist line broke, causing the chute to fall and strike a worker on the ground.

The 48-year-old Toronto man was taken to hospital in serious condition.

He underwent surgery and was listed in stable condition.

Ministry of Labour spokesperson Matt Blajer said this week the investigation is ongoing.

There is no word of any potential charges at this time.
