U-turn fails to evade charge

A 28-year-old Hamilton woman faces a drunk driving charge after unsuccessfully trying to evade a Dundas RIDE check on the weekend.

Hamilton police Sergeant Terri-Lynn Collings said officers were stopping traffic by Osler Drive and Old Ancaster Road just before midnight on Saturday when they saw an oncoming vehicle make a U-turn.

An officer pulled the vehicle over a short distance away and the woman failed roadside breath tests. She is charged with driving with more than 80 milligrams of alcohol per 100 millilitres blood after blowing 90 and 100 in subsequent tests at the police station.
