The Hamilton Fall Garden and Chrysanthemum Show is in full bloom.

The show opens today (Friday) and runs until Nov. 1 from 10 a. m. to 8 p. m. daily at the Gage Park Greenhouse.

“This year’s theme is Autumn Harvest and with a bounty of orange, red and rust-coloured mums on display, you’re sure to see and experience the full beauty of fall,” said greenhouse lead hand and grower Randy Manuel, adding the scene will also be complemented by antique farm equipment, corn stocks and straw.

In addition to seeing more than 200 varieties of mums on display, visitors can also walk through the Hamilton Fall Garden and Chrysanthemum Show’s vendor and education areas, check out the aviary display and enjoy some time in the tea room.

“We have expanded our vendor area to include anything and everything for the gardening enthusiast,” said Mr. Manuel.

The show has also added a speakers’ series, where visitors can enjoy and participate in a variety of gardening seminars and workshops. The series is included with admission and runs from 11 a. m. to 1 p. m. daily.

Topics include: Day Lily Farm, a discussion about day lilies, their care and the farm that they grown on; Fall Containers, a variety of fall plant material used to fill containers for outdoor decoration and containers with flair for the homeowner; Flower Arranging, arranging flowers from a simple vase to a table centrepiece; Forcing Bulbs, the detailed process of forcing various types of bulbs; Landscaping, ideas for the homeowner; Mums, the process of growing mums for the mum show, including bonsai mums; Orchids, the many types of orchids and care needed to grow them; Poinsettia, care during the winter months and the process to get them to bloom again; and Ponds, ideas and tips for the homeowner.

“It’s a great line-up of speakers and topics; there’s something for everyone,” said Mr. Manuel.

If you’re looking to take in all that fall has to offer, the Hamilton Fall Garden and Chrysanthemum Show is definitely the place to be, says Mr. Manuel.

“The colours of the mums are just vibrant and more mums are going to be shown than in the past,” he said. “Come and see the bounty of beauty of the season.”
