Don’t donate until HHS preserves history

Re: Henderson General Hospital name change

Concession Street has the Juravinski Cancer Centre, now the Henderson will be the Juravinski Hospital.

What next? Will Upper Sherman and Concession streets become Juravinski Junction?

Although Mr. and Mrs. Juravinski were very generous with their large donation, perhaps it may not have been necessary had our Liberal government taken better care with eHealth and the lottery corporation. Those millions would have gone a long way to support our hospitals.

Hamilton Health Sciences would also not feel obligated to rename the Henderson and there would be no debate.

However, donations appear to be necessary and although many of us do not donate $43 million, as did the Juravinskis, we do add to that bottom line.

My suggestion would be that anyone opposed to the name change refuse to donate to HHS until they agree to leave our history alone.

There are many other charities that would welcome our small donations that collectively add up.

We must defend our heritage.
