Lee Academy is a small school with a big heart. Over the years, the school has raised money to help children around the world. This October, students focused on the UNICEF campaign to help children in Haiti and Africa.

One of Lee Academy’s teachers, Darcy Morrish, headed up a bake sale with the Grade 3 class, and they spent hours baking, selling and eating for a good cause. The bake sale raised $1,074.56.

The 144 students at Lee Academy brought in donations over the month. Morrish encouraged each student to bring in 2,010 cents for the year 2010. So far students have raised $4,802.49

“I absolutely love to watch the spirit of giving take over during these events,” said Morrish. “It’s very contagious. The students talk about how much money they have raised, where it’s going and how it’s going to help those in need. The students are so grateful for what they have and it shows during events like these.”
