Wilkinson family research leads to Rockton

News Oct 14, 2010 Ancaster News

I live in England and am researching my family history, which has led me to discover that one of my relatives went to Canada and lived in Rockton.

William Wilkinson was born in 1898 in Cheshire, England, and was sent to Canada in 1912 aged 13 by the Children’s Home. He went to live and work with William and Ellen Hugill on their farm in Rockton and was very happy there.

In 1922 he married Florence Beatrice Robinson, and I think they had a son and daughter. I understand he intended to purchase a farm, but I don’t know if he ever did.

I would be very interested in any information about William and his family and also about the Hugill’s farm, particularly if it still exists. My email address is pamhalpin@btinternet.com
