The Bishop Tonnos golf team experienced tremendous success this fall.

The four man Bishop Tonnos Titans team consists of Ancaster residents Brendan Gibson and the Lancaster brothers of Mike, Cam and Chris.

The Titans literally dominated all four events of the Hamilton- Wentworth Catholic District School Board golf championships. Their complete domination was impressive and unlike any other team in recent memory. The Titans won all four team events which crowned them as City Champions for the Hamilton-Wentworth Catholic District School Board. As well, Mike Lancaster won the individual title all four times.

In the first event at the Chedoke Beddoe Golf Course on Sept. 24, the Bishop Tonnos Titans won the event with Mike scoring an even par 70, Chris Lancaster 74, Cam Lancaster 77 and Brendan Gibson 77.

In the second event held at Kings Forest Golf Course on Sept. 29, the conditions were extremely cold and windy. The Titans won again as Mike shot 75, Cam 79, Chris 80 and Brendan 81. They dominated the event, posting the four best scores of the day.

Their third event was held on Oct. 1 at Southbrook Golf and Country Club and it produced a very impressive win for the Titans. Mike and Chris both shot one under par 71 in very cool conditions. Brendan was 73 and Cam shot 77. Their combined total was a remarkable 292, only four over par. Once again, they had the four low scores of the day.

The fourth event was on Monday Oct. 5 at Dragon’s Fire Golf Course. The golfers had to endure heavy rain for the first few holes and cool conditions throughout the round. Mike shot an even par 72, Chris was 74, Brendan 78 and Cam 82. This fourth win for the Titans completed a sweep of the four events.

In winning the four individual titles, Mike compiled an impressive four round total of 288, only two over par in the difficult cool, windy and rainy fall golf weather conditions.

As city champions of the HWCDSB, the Titans earned a birth to the Golden Horseshoe Athletic Conference (GHAC) golf championship. The winner of GHAC moves on to the provincial OFSSA golf championship. The GHAC golf championship was held on Tuesday Oct. 6 at Beverly Golf and County Club.

The early morning tee times meant starting off in cool 10 degree temperatures. Mike and Brendan both shot 75, Cam was 79 and Chris was 81.

The three best scores of the team count towards the GHAC championship and unfortunately their total of 229 was four shots away from claiming victory and a birth into the provincial OFSSA golf championship. The winning team at 225 was Notre Dame Catholic Secondary School from Burlington.

Brendan, Mike, Cam and Chris all competed on the Bick Financial Junior Golf Tour in 2009.
