Ancaster native Sameer Shah is one of 180 students from across Canada who has been chosen to attend Impact! The Co-operators Youth Conference for Sustainability Leadership.

Sameer, who is in his third year of environment and resource studies at the University of Waterloo, learned in the spring that he had been accepted from among nearly 1,000 applicants.

“I am honoured and thrilled to participate,” said Sameer. “It is apparent that interdisciplinary approaches are needed to gain a holistic perspective on environmental issues and solutions – this conference provides students the resources, tools and networking opportunities to act.”

The conference takes place in Guelph, Sept. 24-27 at the University of Guelph campus. Keynote speakers include David Suzuki, award-winning environmentalist, scientist and broadcaster, and co-founder of The David Suzuki Foundation and Peter Schiefke, Manager of The Climate Project Canada.
