Foremost singer-songwriter launches Freewheelin’

The Carnegie Gallery kicks off its Freewheelin' Concert Series this Saturday, Sept. 19, with one of Canada's foremost singer-songwriters.

Suzie Vinnick possesses an amazing voice, beautiful and tender at times yet forceful and gritty on her bluesy ballads. She is a much sought-after artist who has performed with many of Canada's biggest names. Her new CD, Happy Here, was produced by Stephen Fearing of Blackie and the Rodeo Kings, and has been receiving rave reviews. Suzie has been nominated for a 2009 Juno award for best roots and traditional album of the year and was selected 2008 Canadian Maple Blues Award female vocalist of the year.

The concert begins at 8 p. m. at the Carnegie Gallery with the doors opening at 7:30. Tickets are available in advance for $18 at the gallery or at Bryan Prince Bookseller in Westdale. Credit card orders can be made by phoning the gallery at 905-627-4265. Tickets purchased at the door will cost $20.
