Police nab offender

Police arrested a former sex offender last Friday at the Ancaster Aquatic Centre after patrons reported a suspicious man wandering through the change rooms.

Upon arrival at 7:05 p. m., police found a 51- year-old man in possession of personal items stolen from swimmers. Hamilton Police Detective Sergeant Tom Andrew said the man was also found in possession of a Honda Odyssey minivan, which was stolen from a Toronto community centre.

“He has been convicted of sexual offenses in the past,” said Det. Sgt. Andrew.

Police also opposed bail for the man, who has been convicted of previous auto thefts.

The suspect, a Toronto man, is charged with possession of stolen property over $5,000, five counts of possession under $5,000 and three counts of breaching probation.
