Wintery mix forecast for Hamilton area

News Jan 28, 2023 by Jeremy Kemeny Hamilton Spectator

The march of winter continues this weekend in Hamilton, however the messy mix of rain and snow forecasted to start Saturday evening did not materialize.

Evening snow Saturday was lighter than forecast. But after rain in the morning, snow is again expected later Sunday.

Snowfall totals are not expected to exceed two centimetres for Hamilton. A weather travel advisory for the city issued by Environment Canada Saturday was cancelled Sunday morning.

Snowfall totals in some areas north of Hamilton are expected to be higher, with warnings issued for parts of Wellington County and Halton Region.

Due to fluctuating conditions, Hamilton Police urged residents to avoid what little ice covers the area’s bodies of water.

“Fluctuating temperatures make for weak, unpredictable and unsafe ice,” it wrote on the police’s marine unit Twitter account.
