Theatre Aquarius, the cast, crew and audiences of Hairspray raised $46,000 for Hamilton Food Share in 2019.

After each performance during the holiday season, actors ask the audience to donate by “passing the hat” with all funds raised used to help Hamilton Food Share stock local food banks and hot meal programs.

“Theatre Aquarius is very proud of the help we have been able to give Hamilton Food Share over the last 10 years,” said Theatre Aquarius executive director Lorna Zaremba. “Seeing the enthusiasm of our cast, crew, musicians and audiences for helping those in need is truly heartwarming.”

"We are deeply grateful for the incredible support from the Theatre Aquarius cast and the audiences," said Celeste Taylor, resource development manager of Hamilton Food Share. “They are making a world of difference for people in need in our community each winter.”

Hamilton Food Share supplies 3.35 million pounds of food each year, 65 per cent of which is fresh or frozen, to 12 food banks and hot meal programs in locations across the city. Every $20 donated to Hamilton Food Share provides $100 in food for Hamilton’s food banks and hot meal programs.
