Attending a Pan Am Games soccer matchup?

Here are a few things to know before heading out to a game July 11 to July 26 at CIBC Hamilton Pan Am Soccer Stadium (Tim Hortons Field).

Security

Hamilton police want to let people know that there will be security checks at the stadium.

There is a “no bag” policy in place with very limited exemptions (the maximum bag size is nine-by-five-by-11 inches). Bags will be searched by security.

Prohibited items including, but not limited to, illegal substances or anything that might be considered a projectile and/or weapon will be confiscated.

Officers will be present both inside and outside the stadium, assisting with crowd control, pedestrian and traffic flow.

Road closures

Hamilton police also want to remind the public that the following roads will be closed around the stadium:

Cannon Street East between Gage Avenue and Lottridge Street

Connaught Avenue North between Cannon Street East and the old King George Public School

Balsam Avenue North between Cannon Street East and Beechwood Avenue

Beechwood Avenue between Balsam Avenue North and Melrose Avenue North

Melrose Avenue North between Cannon Street East and Beechwood Avenue
