Can-Am Para-swimming Championships start Friday in Scarborough

The 2015 Can Am Para-swimming Championships begin this Friday, March 20, at the Toronto Pan Am Sports Centre in Scarborough.

The championships also “serve as selection trials for the 2015 Parapan Am Games in Toronto and IPC Swimming World Championships in Glascow, Scotland,” according to a Swimming Canada press release.

Each day from March 20 to 22, heats will begin at 9:30 a.m. with finals set for 6 p.m.

Admission is free for members of the public to come to the pool, at Military Trail and Morningside Avenue in Scarborough, and watch the athletes compete.

On Friday, eight preliminary rounds of Women’s and Men’s Freestyle, Backstroke and Butterfly heats run from 9:30 a.m. to 12:03 p.m.

Continuing on Saturday, 10 preliminary rounds of Women’s and Men’s Individual Medley, Butterfly, Breaststroke and Freestyle heats run from 9:30 a.m. to 11:45 a.m.

Finishing off Sunday, six more preliminary rounds of Women’s and Men’s Freestyle, Breaststroke and Backstroke heats run from 9:30 a.m. to 11:01 a.m.
