Activist, author Sally Armstrong to speak in Hamilton

Grandmothers of Steel and Soroptimist International Hamilton-Burlington are bringing human rights activist, journalist and award-winning author Sally Armstrong to Hamilton.

She will be speaking about her latest book, Ascent of Women, which will be available to purchase and have signed, on May 8 at 7 p.m. in Stoney Creek.

The event is being held at Winterberry Heights Church, 300 Winterberry Drive, Stoney Creek. Tickets are $30 (students $15).

Part of the proceeds from the evening will be donated to the Stephen Lewis Foundation, which the Grandmothers of Steel have been supporting for seven years.

Soroptimist International Hamilton-Burlington will donate to Canadian Women for Women of Afghanistan, a cause close to Armstrong’s heart, as well as provide a bursary for a student enrolling in the Midwifery programme at McMaster University.
