The 22nd annual Gandhi Peace Festival is being held Oct. 4 at Hamilton City Hall.
Mahatma Gandhi's vision, along with key elements of his nonviolent philosophy and practice, emerged out of his own two decades of experience fighting oppression in the land of Nelson Mandela's birth.
This year, the Gandhi Peace Festival celebrates the life and legacy of Mandela.
The free day of festivities, with music, dance, a peace walk, keynote speaker, community awards, free Indian vegetarian food, and activities for children, runs from 10 a.m. until 3 p.m.
The festival is presented by the India-Canada Society, McMaster University and the City of Hamilton. See www.humanities.mcmaster.ca/gandhi for more information.
