The ArtSmart program at Hill Park is ready to stage its final production.
Shrek The Musical opens this weekend and continues next weekend at the central Mountain high school.
ArtSmart is a combined project of the Hamilton-Wentworth District School Board and Theatre Ancaster. Students from across the city attend Hill Park for the semester to learn about music, drama and dance, and then perform a full Broadway production.
For the students involved, it’s more than just a program.
“It’s changed my life” says Paige Jenkins. “I look forward to coming to school, to a positive environment that inspires me to reach for my dreams.”
Shrek The Musical runs Friday and Saturday, and then June 5-7, at 7:30 p.m.
There’s also 1:30 p.m. matinee this Sunday. Tickets are $15 (seniors $10, students $5) and can be reserved by contacting Rob Blunsdon at 905-906-2195 or email@example.com.
Hill Park Secondary School is located at 465 East 16th St.
The school is slated to close at the end of June. The ArtSmart program is moving to Sir Allan MacNab.
