Local musicians from Dundas representing very different styles of music are nominated for a handful of 2012 Hamilton Music Awards.
Maggie Szabo, also known as All About Maggie, and The Dirty Nil have both been very busy in recent months and have seen their ongoing efforts recognized by the local music awards organization.
The winners will be announced at a ceremony Sunday, Nov. 18 at Mohawk College’s McIntyre Theatre.
Szabo, who released her first CD three months ago, is nominated for a total of four awards, including Female Artist of the Year; Pop Recording of the Year; and Female Vocalist of the Year in addition to a nomination for the Hamilton Music Industry Award for Artist Website of the Year.
The Dirty Nil, a Dundas-based punk band that opened for The Offspring on Sept. 2 in Toronto, is nominated for Punk Recording of the Year.
As part of the week leading up to the awards celebrations, Szabo is scheduled for perform on Saturday, Nov. 17 at The Casbah.
After a busy September that saw them not only perform with The Offspring, but also with The Sheepdogs at McMaster University and Hamilton success story Arkells in Chatham, The Dirty Nil will appear on five Ontario tour dates with Hamilton-based Monster Truck including an already sold out Toronto show at Lee’s Palace on Dec. 14.
