Urinetown: The Musical, a hilarious tale of greed, corruption, love, and revolution in a time when water is worth its weight in gold is an uproariously funny musical.
Urinetown: The Musical, a hilarious tale of greed, corruption, love, and revolution in a time when water is worth its weight in gold, is an uproariously funny musical.
Theatre Ancaster Stage 3: The Young Company presents the four-time Tony Award-winning satirical musical March 2, 3, 9, 10 at 8 p.m. and March 4 at 2 p.m. at the Ancaster High School Auditorium.
The story of Urinetown is set in a time of terrible water shortage, caused by a 20-year drought, which has led to a government-enforced ban on private toilets. The giant corporations have commercialized public toilets and make people pay to ….ahem…..pee. Offenders are sent off to Urinetown, never to return.
At its heart, Urinetown is a show about the resolute nature of the heart and the power of hope.
“There are so many downtrodden and unhappy characters in the world of Urinetown, but they find their happiness and fulfillment in listening to their own hearts and enjoying that freedom,” said director Sam Frisk. “The love story at this show’s centre is one that blossoms from finding someone who shares all your hopes and your joys.”
Tickets are available at 905-541-2635; $12 for adults and $8 for students. Visit www.theatreancaster.com for more details.
Patrick Teed and Nicky Kitchen play Bobby and Hope, who find love and…hope among their dismal surroundings in Urinetown.
