Stoney Creek artist Josh Tiessen, 17, was recently juried in as the youngest member of the International Guild of Realism (IGOR), joining ranks with top realist artists from around the world.
Tiessen’s work has been juried in to the Burlington Art Centre’s yearly art auction, an event for collectors, which took place Feb. 10.
After a year of being mentored under McMaster University professor and master artist Judy Major-Girardin, four more of Tiessen’s recent high realism paintings were selected for an upcoming group exhibition called Verge: New Generation Mentor Group in the main gallery of the Burlington Art Centre from Feb. 18 to March 25, with a reception to be held Feb. 26, 2 p.m. to 4 pm.
Tiessen will also donate a print of Guardian of the Karst to the Friends of the Eramosa Karst dinner and dance. The painting is based on photos of a red-tailed hawk and Nexus cave at the conservation area.
