Stoney Creek Furniture teams with New Hope Community Bikes

Stoney Creek Furniture spent the  summer trying to get people off the sofa.

The company joined forces with New Hope Community Bikes, a Hamilton-based not-for-profit organization that offers dependable bicycles at affordable prices.

Throughout the summer, Stoney Creek Furniture collected unwanted, used bikes to be donated to New Hope. Customers who brought in a used bike received a $50 Stoney Creek Furniture gift card.

“We wanted to give back to the community. It was summer and we were thinking bikes, and we connected with New Hope,” said Jim Fee, vice-president at Stoney Creek Furniture. “Our customers came in and dropped off a bike – and in return they received a $50 Stoney Creek Furniture Gift Card. Then we passed along the bikes to New Hope to refurbish.”

Stoney Creek Furniture received more than 100 bikes during the promotion. That’s 100 people – children, adults and commuters, who will have access to dependable means of transportation and a way to improve their fitness.

New Hope Community Bikes is a not-for-profit, social enterprise dedicated to providing affordable, reliable bicycles and employment and job training opportunities for youth. They believe bicycles help build a healthier, more environmentally-friendly community. New Hope is at 1429 Main St. E. in Hamilton.
