Stoney Creek artist Josh Tiessen will hold a solo exhibition at Hamilton’s Supercrawl 2013 next weekend, Sept. 13-14.
Listed as one of 80 world-class artists by the prestigious Buckhorn Fine Art Festival, the 18 -year-old has been invited to appear at Hamilton’s largest art event.
From noon to midnight, Tiessen’s exhibit can be seen at Green Smoothie Bar at 236 James St. N.
Supercrawl is an annual art, music and performing arts festival held in Hamilton’s James Street arts district.
Earlier this spring Josh and his musician/composer brother Zac were discovered by the world’s foremost child prodigy expert, who tested and confirmed them as prodigies, adding them to an international group of 24 prodigies being studied worldwide. The Huffington Post called Tiessen one of “10 Art Prodigies You Should Know.”
Tiessen submitted his first painting, Shipwrecked Treasure, and was juried into the yearly exhibition of International Guild of Realism, to be held at the Tempe Center for the Arts in Arizona. At their invitation, Tiessen will be flying there for the exhibition opening events weekend of Oct. 3-6. Tiessen will also appear in an upcoming edition of American Art Collector magazine, the top U.S. publication for galleries and serious collectors.
Meanwhile back at home David Silcox, president of Sotheby’s Canada, has accepted an invitation from Canada’s Top 20 Under 20 to mentor Tiessen over the coming year.
