Pursue the spotlight with Theatre Ancaster auditions

Theatre Ancaster auditions continue for the new September show, the hilarious Complete Works of Shakespeare (Abridged), tomorrow evening, Friday May 11 at 7 p.m. at the Old Firehall Arts Centre, 334 Wilson St. E.

“We’re looking for three males between 20 and 40 who love comedy, can improvise and will connect and interact with an audience,” said director Krista Cranston. “All 37 of Shakespeare’s plays are covered in uproarious fashion in 97 minutes, including Hamlet performed backward in 43 seconds. It’s a clever, funny show.”

A second Theatre Ancaster show will be looking for leads and chorus members at the end of the month. Hairspray is Theatre Ancaster’s November musical, and it offers parts for adults, teens and children.

“It’s set in the 1960s, and while it’s a comedy with great music and wide audience appeal, it’s a show that deals with the serious racial equality struggle that involved so many at that time,” said director Nupi Gokhale.
Details about the auditions and how to prepare for them can be found at theatreancaster.com.
