Mark your calendars for the first Dundas Valley Fine Art Show on Nov. 24 and 25 at the Dundas Valley School of Art.
The show features the art of seven artists: E. Robert Ross, Guennadi Kalinine, Stephen Landers, Paul Simon, Mark Strutt, Les Drysdale and Ward Shipman, plus internationally-recognized antiquarian and art appraiser Gert Dorpmans.
Show organizer and photographer Stephen Landers of Landers Creative Collections said the artists are good friends and have been considering a group show for some time.
“We all work full-time as artists in the Hamilton area,” said Landers. “For example, Guennadi Kalinine, Ward Shipman, and Les Drysdale all teach at the Dundas Valley School of Art, Mark Strutt has opened the popular Focus Gallery on James Street North, E. Robert Ross is a leading painter of the Dundas Valley landscape, Paul Simon’s panoramic black-and-white photographs of Dundurn Castle have become iconic images of the historic site and Bert Dorpmans is a top expert on Canadian and European art provenance.”
Landers added all show members have received international acclaim, in addition to numerous public and private art commissions.
“We see it as a chance for the public to view the work of celebrated artists who happen to work locally,” he said. “You don’t have to drive to Oakville, Mississauga, or Toronto to view and buy world-class art.”
The show runs from noon to 4 p.m. in the DVSA loft. Admission is free.
