For the second straight year, the Recycling Council of Ontario has honoured Fessenden Elementary School during Waste Reduction Week. Fessenden was one of 10 schools in the province to win the Waste Free Lunch Challenge by using reusable containers, buying products in bulk and bringing organic waste home for composting. During the challenge, Fessenden reduced the amount of lunchtime garbage and recycling from 28 pounds to just three pounds for the entire school.
