Join us for a panel discussion Thursday February 7th, 6 – 8 pm on Ahnisnabae Art of the Woodland School: The search for a new critical context for First Nations (Aboriginal) Art History, with Ruth Phillips, Elizabeth McLuhan, Ahmoo Angeconeb. Thunder Bay artist Roy Thomas (1949-2004) won critical acclaim as an artist of the Woodland School, an art movement that started in the 1960s. A self-taught artist, he was guided by memories of his grandmother whose stories taught him much about his Ahnisnabae (Ojibwe) culture. This exhibition of more than 40 paintings, was organized and circulated by the Thunder Bay Art Gallery.
