Joseph, also known as Kate Holton, centre, and her siblings — Alyssa Pierazzo, Victoria Vespa, Hilary Irvine, Makenzie Smith, Jennie O’Brien, Breanne Graham, Jessica Whitney, Allison Suichies, Nicole Amodeo, Emmanuella Likibic and Abby Hanna — are getting ready to entertain audiences beginning Jan. 31 with Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat. The production involves about 35 young people from the community.

Curtain rises Friday on dazzling music and performers

Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat is magical, musical family fun.  It has people appeal, with fabulous melodies, lots of dancing, singing and infectious enthusiasm as provided by Theatre Ancaster’s 35 Stage 2 singers and actors.

There’s a wonderful range of dazzling music by Andrew Lloyd Webber, from country and western to calypso and bubble-gum pop, plus some good old fashioned rock ’n’ roll. The story is simple and well-known. Joseph’s jealous brothers sell him for a song and he becomes the Pharaoh’s right-hand man. They regret their decision and, by the end of the story, the family is re-united for a happy ending.

The Stage 2 cast has been working weekly since September on the show and are tremendously excited to move on stage with costumes, props and sets, and sound and lighting provided by the Theatre Ancaster Main Stage teams.

Joseph runs in the Theatre Auditorium at Ancaster High School Jan. 31 and Feb. 1 at 7 p.m. On Sunday, Feb. 2 the final matinee takes to the stage at 2 p.m.  Check, call 905-304-8863, ext. 2, for tickets, or purchase at the door.
