Melissa Iannace says her new business, Melissa Kelly Boudoir Photographer, helps give women a big boost of confidence about their appearance.

Confidence booster

It can be hard to boost one’s self-esteem, but a west Mountain woman has found a unique way which seems to work.
Melissa Iannace says looking good is feeling good, and her new business, Melissa Kelly Boudoir Photographer, achieves that. She says her clients are usually nervous when they arrive for a photo shoot, but within 10 minutes they are usually set at ease.
“You can see the confidence coming out in these women,” says Iannace. “Confidence is sexy. Confidence and a feather boa — that’s the best thing a woman can wear.”
Leann Dick, 28, attests to the lift a boudoir shoot can give a woman.
She says she was picked on and teased while growing up and had to compare herself to her step sister who was a model.
But after meeting Iannace and doing the photo shoot, she left the studio feeling like she was walking on air because of the boost in confidence.
“By the end, she made me feel so good — so comfortable, so confident,” says Dick. “You are so excited to see your photos and to show people.”
Iannace, 37, is a Sir Allan MacNab graduate and lifelong west Mountain resident. She says she was always interested in photography and remembers developing film and print photos in the darkroom at high school, but did not pursue it as a career.
Five years ago, as her marriage was ending and while working off pregnancy weight, she did a boudoir shoot.
“I loved how I felt,” Iannace said.
Last year, she decided to buy the necessary equipment and start her business (melissakellyboudoirphotographer.com). She offers private sessions in her studio, at a client’s home or at a location of the client’s choice. She also has sessions at bachelorette parties
The majority of packages are given to the woman’s partner; many brides give their husband a package as a wedding gift. She says the men love seeing the free spirit and liberated side of their partners.
“These men are discovering a whole new side of the women they are with,” says Iannace.
