Dundas Real McCoys forward Jordan Freeman fights for a loose puck in front of Stoney Creek generals goaltender Daniel Svedin in Allan Cup Hockey playoff action Friday night at J.L. Grightmire Arena.

McCoys grab 2-0 series lead

The Stoney Creek Generals will have to turn things around in a hurry to avoid a quick exit from the Allan Cup Hockey playoffs.

After losing to the Real McCoys 11-6 in Dundas on Friday night, a rough second period on home ice left Stoney Creek down two games in the best-of-seven series.

Nick Smith, Jason Ward, Joe Koudys and Darryl Smith scored second period goals for the McCoys Sunday night at Gateway Ice Centre in a 5-1 win.

Ryan Christie had the McCoys’ other goal on a shorthanded effort in the first period as Dundas grabbed a series strangle hold. Matthew Reynolds scored the lone goal for Stoney Creek.

Both teams will regroup in preparation for game three in Dundas on Friday night. The puck drops at 7:30 p.m. in what can only be described as a must-win for the Generals.

Dundas lost just once at home in regulation during the regular season.
